Hope Family Services' recruits families who wish to foster children. We guide these families through an intensive home study, 27 hours of direct training, and background checks. Once that is completed, and we believe the family is a good candidate to foster children, we certify the foster home.
Hope Family Services receives referrals for children between the ages of zero and eighteen from several different County Departments of Human Services in Colorado. We carefully gather much information about each child and present the information to a certified foster family whose characteristics are similar to the child. If the foster family and the child seem to be a good match, the child is placed in the foster home.
Once a child is placed in a foster home, Hope Family Services develops a treatment plan according to the needs of the child and the family of the child. The foster parents and all professionals involved with the child, such as a caseworker, are involved in the development and maintenance of the treatment plan.
Hope Family Services assigns a case manager to each foster home. The case manager is responsible for monitoring the foster child's progress and adjusting the foster child's treatment plan as the foster child progresses.
Hope Family Services assists the foster families to prepare the foster children for a permanent home. This can mean that the foster children return to their families, kin of families, adoption into new families or emancipation in the current foster home.
Hope Family Services is not an adoption agency. However, we do cooperate with County Departments of Social Services in the adoption process for those foster parents who wish to adopt their foster children.
Hope Family Services also supervises those families who wish to become group homes for foster children. The process to become a group home is different than becoming a foster home. Hope Family Services provides supervisory services to the group home which are similar to the services provided to foster homes. Due to the nature of the foster children who are placed in group homes, those services are generally more intense.
Hope Family Services provides ongoing training to the foster parents. This training may occur directly through Hope Family Services or through referrals for training presented to the foster parents by Hope Family Services. Foster parent training frequently occurs informally between the foster parent and the case manager when the case manager and the foster parent discuss the needs and progress of the foster children. Hope Family Services provides training through this web site and is available at no cost to anyone in the world.
Hope Family Services provides respite care and occasional transportation to support the foster families. Hope Family Services provides 24/7 emergency services to support the foster families in times of crisis.
Depending on the nature of the foster child's case, Hope Family services may provide training or support to the foster child's parents. These services can involve mentoring, therapy, training, parenting education, family visitation, etc.
Hope Family Services may provide NeuroFeedback training to assist foster children in strengthening the process of their neurological brain structures and functioning. This training assists the foster child in the therapeutic process.
Hope Family Services actively seeks out community support to assist in the ongoing needs of the foster children and the foster families. Such support can come from students completing internships, community programs, volunteers, mentoring programs for educational or social needs, community mental health organizations, physicians, dentists, grants, donations, etc.
